About Griptonite
Do the tags have to match the colour of the holds?
Our NFC tags don't have to match hold colours — colours can be assigned to anything the gym wants. For example, pink means "Slab of the week", white means kid friendly, or red means V3–V5.
What if I don't have 3D files for my gym?
Don't worry! We can work with almost any format you have, from official gym plans to a simple walk-around video.
How long does setup take?
The process is designed to be fast and fully supported. Typically, you can go from your initial call to "Go Live" in as little as 2 to 3 weeks.
Am I limited on the number of Staff or Users?
No. Our subscriptions include unlimited climber and staff users.
Do I need one subscription per site?
Yes. Each gym is treated independently from a subscription process, however we do have tools that allow Challenges, Comps, and Staff to be managed across linked sites.
What makes you different from other systems?
Griptonite is built different. We consider the intricate relationship between the Climber and Gym. All our UX flows are carefully crafted so that both sides feel the win. Unlike other platforms, we focus 100% indoors, so our features don't feel bloated with unnecessary UI and features — the swiss-army knife effect.

Can you do judged comps?
Yes! Our platform fully supports judged events on top of self-scored. We also support finals, semis, and multiple different scoring formats.
Can comps span multiple gyms?
Yes, we support both single-day events and longer leagues that span one or more gym venues.
Can you do team comps?
Yes, our flexible system allows for various league and team-based formats.
Can kids compete who don't have a phone?
Absolutely. We offer a simple web scorecard that is browser-based, meaning children can compete using a parent's device or a tablet without needing to download the app.
Can I use the platform just for comps?
Yes. We offer a "Just Comps" subscription specifically for gyms that only want the competition scoring platform.

What do the integrations do?
Integrations allow Griptonite users to link their accounts. Depending on the integration provider, this unlocks various features — for example, a notification recommending personalised routes at check-in time based on customer preferences. Each integration's features are slightly different, so best to email us with your system provider.
Do you have an open API?
We currently do not have an Open API. If you're interested in building on top of Griptonite data, please get in contact.
Can I export my gym's data?
Yes, you can generate printable reports and CSV data exports for all your gym's historical inventory and performance metrics.
Can I export customer data?
Reporting tools are available to help you analyse customer trends and engagement. You cannot export personalised data that can be used for bulk communication, marketing, or analysing on a personalised level.

Is the app free to climbers?
The standard app is free for climbers to find climbs and track progress. We do have a PRO subscription that adds a layer on top of the free app for features like personalised workouts and beta video analysis.
Do I have to use the route tags?
While tags reduce friction, climbers can also find and log climbs using the interactive gym maps within the app.
Can you check in with the same app to the gym?
Griptonite integrates with various front-desk software (FDS) to create a unified customer experience.
How does the app help with churn of new customers?
Our data shows that Griptonite users are 30% less likely to churn. We focus on the crucial first 30 minutes of a visit, providing a "soft landing" through easy navigation and achievable challenges.

Does the system work offline?
The GripTV box is a plug-and-play solution that connects to your Wi-Fi network via HDMI to display live-synchronized content. It needs an active internet connection to pull up-to-date information.
Is it possible to have multiple TVs?
Yes, you can have multiple boxes throughout your gym, set to show different content for bouldering, sport, or both.
Can I put my own content there?
Yes! You can easily upload your own ads, messages, and promos directly from your camera roll into the display carousel.
Does it sync automatically to the route DB?
Yes. All content is live-synchronized, meaning it updates automatically as soon as your setters update the route database.
Can you use the TV for live leaderboards?
Yes. During events, the boxes broadcast live leaderboards and standings to keep competitors and spectators engaged.

Can I get the data for my own analysis?
Yes. The Route Manager allows you to export all historical data for use in external software like Microsoft PowerBI or Excel.
Can I view historic routes?
Yes, stripped routes are stored in an Archive, giving you valuable insights into previous sets and setting performance over time.
Does it work on an iPad?
Yes! Route Manager is optimized for off-the-mat use on tablets and laptops via a web browser.
Can you assign setting tasks?
Yes, you can allocate stripping and setting tasks directly to staff members, which appear as to-do lists in their app.
